Moving my router somewhere else.?

-Ok, so I have moved my ps3 and computer upstairs and would like to move the router as well for faster internet. We are with Verizon, and have a verizon router. Right now, I don't know where our router is plugged into, and cannot find out as it goes into the ceiling...? I have looked on our phones and there is nowhere to plug it in, where could I?
