I have a wireless router can i plug it into my computer without internet to pick up my internet connection?

-i don't have a pci card, so i was wanting to know if i could just use the router to get internet in another room, never used a router before so still learning. i have comcast internet, so is this possible?A wireless router is designed to "route" or distribute an internet signal. Most wireless routers have both a wireless and a wired component. The wireless part operates just like a two-way radio or a cordless phone - you need to have a wireless radio card (modem) in or attached to your computer in order to be able to communicate with the router. Now the wired part is similar, except that the internet signals are carried through ethernet cables, rather than by radio waves. Most computers newer than five years have an ethernet card built in. You will need a CAT-5 cable to connect your computer to your router, assuming your router has an ethernet output connection. If not, you'll have to buy a USB wireless adapter.
hahaha do you mean Free Internet access from kool neighbors? LOL

the answer would then be YES.... connect your router and get it as close as possible to the window and pray that any of your neighbors left their wireless routers unsecured :)

It they did, you now have a way to get online, mate! haha-
