Help internet connection speed old modem?

-I have an old 2004 modem or something around there. I have the 24 mega bit internet connection speed, but the internet is always so slow. The router I bought is only a year old. Could the problem be the age of the modem?Definitely is an issue. Buy a new one would be my recommendation. If it didn't fix the problem then you can always take it back and get your momo back.
