-Hi can any help me with this?? due to my Laptop breaking i have had to go back to using my old PC but i have not used it for some time & since i last used it i have changed my internet provider to Sky, when i wired it up today & attempted to connect the router i found that my PC does not have an Ethernet port, it has the old telephone Lan port, i have heard that there is an adapter that will convert the lan port to an Ethernet port but i have looked on Ebay & cant seem to find 1 there seems to be alot of USB to Lan converters, i dont think that is what i need?? as i need to convert my Lan to Ethernet, i have no computer knowledge so any help would be great.
thank youIf you have a USB port you can use an USB to Ethernet port adapter.

"The ability to connect Ethernet devices via USB ports is known as Ethernet over USB. There are many low-cost commercial adapters available to do this. The links below describe the technical details on how the technology works." . . . .
You can order one for one dollar from www.ebay.com :

you can get an ethernet card and switch out the modem port go to a pc repair parts shop you should be able to pick one up really cheap maybe $5 if you are not good with computers bring it in and they will do it for you they will probably charge you $30-40 though if they have to do the work. however it's really not to hard you take the case cover off and the ethernet card plugs into the motherboard like a cartridge. here's an instructional video on how to install the card

Those are the same thing. Telephone ports are not "lan" ports. Telephone ports are RJ-12, lan/ethernet ports are RJ-45. There is no converter from telephone/modem jack to ethernet port. The old computer needs an ethernet card which will have a lan/ethernet/rj-45 jack.
"Lan" means local area network, and those use Ethernet as their protocol.
Helm Marie! I'm afraid you've mistaken it for a LAN port.. Telephone cable port you see is not a LAN port though it looks like one.. It uses a different kind of RJ cable, and hence won't work good for your computer.. By d way, LAN and Ethernet ports mean the same..
